A Laid-Back Day in Genoa
Cruising into Genoa on the MSC World Europa, we didn’t quite know what to expect. The city isn’t as instantly recognisable as Rome, Florence or Venice, but it turned out to be the most surprisingly enjoyable stop. With colourful buildings climbing up the hills, an easy port location, and the option to explore at your own pace, Genoa gave us exactly what we needed that day: history, beauty, and no pressure to rush, even in the rain.
A Relaxing Monday in Tarragona
When you think of a day trip from Barcelona, Tarragona might not be the first name that comes to mind. But sometimes, the best experiences are the ones that don’t go to plan. That was precisely the case when we headed to Tarragona on a quiet Monday, expecting Roman ruins but discovering something even better: a peaceful, picturesque city full of charm, history, and surprise highlights. We changed our itinerary, and I forgot to check that Tarrafgona was open, but all the Roman ruin sites are closed on Monday. We think it was the best mistake and made for a great day.

Hervey Bay – Things to see and do in 3 days
On a recent trip to Hervey Bay, we spent time exploring the area, and this is what we discovered on our 4-night stay. Hervey Bay is located 3.5hrs (295kms) north of Brisbane, on Queensland’s Fraser Coast. The major tourism is driven by whale watching and visits to K’gari (Fraser Island). Still, there is much more on offer in this tranquil part of Australia. For more on K’gari, check out our blog or video. In this Blog, we will look at the places we visited and ideas to help you plan your visit to Hervey Bay and the surrounding area.
How being in Lockdown helped us to explore.
For the first few weeks, we held our breaths and waited to be able to resume our near-normal lives, but as the weeks rolled into each other. The hope of any travel was dashed. In the course of this time, we had cancelled a weekend away with friends, stopped working on our still postponed trip to South Australia. We also gave up hope of me jumping out of a plane over fox Glacier in New Zealand to celebrate turning fifty. Then Phil and I decided to explore our own backyard, This not only gave us content and days out, but it awoke in us a love for the beautiful places so close to our home.
